Dave and I had a similar idea a few weeks ago for a centralized aggregator of weblogs covering the Democratic National Convention.

His implementation however, is so superb that I want to redirect everyone using my DNC RSS Feed to ConventionBloggers.com The single source for keeping track of all blogging of the DNC (Not just the bloggers with credentials)

There's also an opml file of the current list of blogs being aggregated so you can import all the subscriptions if your aggregator supports this. I'm modifying my aggregator so that it will subscribe to the opml, which in turn will manage my DNC subscriptions automatically. When a new blog is added, it automatically becomes a subscription in my aggregator. If I want to unsubscribe from all the DNC feeds, I just unsuscribe from the opml feed. Sweet stuff.

I would be remiss at this juncture if I did not mention the Librarians for Kerry-Edwards Yahoo group that has been picking up steam lately. In the interests of full disclosure I'd like to say that while the Kerry-Edwards ticket has my support, Kucinich or Dean were really who I was rallying for. dnc rss aggregated feed

When I read that some of my favourite bloggers will be covering the democratic convention, an idea popped into my head. It would probably benefit lots of people if they can subscribe to a single feed that is an aggregation of the DNC blogger's postings.

This would give readers a single click sub and unsub action and perhaps triangulation as the events on the floor unfold.

But I'm not quite sure how to approach the project. No sense building a new aggregator, plenty of useful bits to work with. I'm considering the manila aggregator API, polling the selected feeds hourly and bulding a new rss feed on the fly of the result.

Then again, a human edited feed, organized and updated on the fly feels like a better solution and adds value to the information flow by grouping postings and information. So I've started the DNC RSS Feed for your aggregating enjoyment!
