While in many ways I am proud of this site and enjoy chronicling my thoughts in public like this, there's definitely concerns about how it would be perceived by people I know and work with (in part why I haven't posted as much lately). When my big project went live, I did post a link to the website, but I took it down shortly afterwards for fear that this would show up in their webserver logs. I'm thinking of removing my name from this site (except maybe for an About Me page) so it wouldn't rank #2 on a Google search for my name.
[Heaven, Hell or Hoboken]
Is your weblog working for you or are you working for your weblog?

I have much more respect and dedicate far more time to reading weblogs when I think I know who the author is and can gauge their performance over time.

I expect the worst from anonymous weblogs.

This is not to say that there's no time or place for anonymous weblogs. They're just very different beasts and I think most people who seek anonymity do so with bad judgement.

If you feel the need to vent something that you're not willing to own up to, then maybe the web isn't the best place to do it. The larger point, however, is that URIs should be carefully designed, not just haphazardly thrown together. I just discovered a paper by Jon Udell from September 2000 called "The Art of Organizing Search Results" which makes the point even more strongly. Pay special attention to the second page of the article where he describes a de facto API for the Oreilly web site that was created inadvertently simply by choosing the URI conventions with common sense.
[Windley's Enterprise Computing Weblog]

 Windley's Enterprise Computing Weblog

OS X port of Rotor

Simon Fell: Now that the OS X port of Rotor is available, and there's faster & cheaper PowerBooks available, there's no excuse for not owning a Mac!
[Simon Fell]

 Simon Fell

NetNewsWire Lite 1.0.2b5

Brent Simmons: NetNewsWire Lite 1.0.2b5 fixes a few bugs: links in the HTML view are displayed on mouse-over, old-but-still-current items are no longer marked as unread.
