Mayor's stand on City Hall blasted at San Jose debate
With San Jose's mayoral primary election two weeks away, three lesser-known candidates ganged up on an absent Mayor Ron Gonzales at a debate Tuesday night, criticizing his decision to forge ahead with a new City Hall building downtown and his about-face on a proposed power plant in South San Jose.

It's hard to justify the cost of the proposed City Hall in a tanking economy. It was interesting that Jim Cunneen, who was representing the Mayor at the debate, suggested that the primary reason for the escalating costs was a redesign that the public wanted. It was my understanding that Mayor Gonzales was the one who pushed the redesign.
