Four Views of Radio

Radio Userland (which many, including myself, often shorten to Radio) is the whole shebang - the complete application. View Number One.

(If you like, you could think of the Radio icon as the complete application even though you can't see anything there. Conceptually, everything is contained and directed from that little icon and its menu. Not bad for an icon, eh?)

When you launch Radio from the Windows desktop and the Radio icon displays in your Windows status bar, Radio automatically opens your desktop weblog in your Internet browser - whether Internet Explorer, Netscape or Opera. View Number Two.

If or when you select 'Open Radio' by right-clicking the Radio icon, you open the Radio desktop application. You never have to open the desktop application. However, you can do everything within the desktop application that you can do within your desktop weblog - and a whole lot more. View Number Three.

When you publish your weblog in Radio, either to the Userland Community Server or to another location of your choice, your weblog is now publicly available to anyone who surfs the Web. Publishing is a one-way operation, so you cannot edit, change or download your public weblog in its public location once you have done this. (Of course, you can make changes and republish them to your public weblog from either your desktop weblog or the desktop application). View Number Four.

If this makes you dizzy, rest assured that Userland could not have readily made this any simpler. Simplex veri sigillum.
