The Wish List

As a bona fide slobbering-with-lust Radio end-user, I am entitled to wish for the moon and then some. That's the least I expect for $39.95. I mean, come on. Where are the dancing girls?

This is not a prioritized list. Heck, what do you think I am, a software developer?

... Spell-checker.

... Enable me to package automatically all content needed to move my Radio content to another machine. Yes, I know it can be done but it is awkward. Needs to be drop-dead end-user wizarded. Crucial for posting while traveling: mail-to-weblog too painful. Besides, I write stories.

... Ability to 'promote' weblog posts to stories for ready use of a stories list for editing, indexing and retrieval. Related: offer a meta-data feature for stories to support sorting-display of story lists by date criteria and keyword.

... Supply integrated scripts (e.g., in end-user buttonized form) for table of contents generation: retrieving-assembling-and-displaying groups of links to posts and stories by dates posted; category type; most recently edited items and such.

... A 'quote-me' link (thanks for this wish to Keola Donaghy). Click on a specific post from another weblog's main page for post-and-comment in my weblog. Should be possible to pick out a specific chunk of XML from rss.xml and ship-route it, no? Easy for Leonardo?

... Intra-weblog search tool.

... Enhanced organization tools for news aggregation. Allow me to rank feeds by categories to display on separate aggregation pages (media, developers, arts, personal pages); rank feeds from most-to-least interest to me (granting I am somewhat interested or wouldn't be subscribing) with appropriate display-and-notification priorities following. Or else how will I sift through hundreds of feeds?

... Ability to display a home page per category. I could then view and organize a set of posts within a given category. Even better would be a category view of my entire website. Each category would generate a complete view of Radio with its own theme displayed, ability to set all prefs, get direct access to category templates, etc. Could this plus search be a legitimate 'professional version of Radio'? $79.95?

... Slicker integration between outline editing in the desktop application and post-to-weblog.  Deliver sophisticated printing within the desktop application. And don't forget the spell checker. That way, I could live entirely within Radio.

... How about a simple link to home page delivered by default with every theme's main template to better support navigation from stories?

... Include IM-presence features. Integrate instant outlining with IM. Integrate both with blogging. Tomorrow morning is okay.

... Give easy access to community-developed tools and scripts. Why not a Radio Status Center link to a Userland page that collects together a set of safely installable tools and/or scripts?

... Include kitchen sink.

(Please email me with your comments, expansions or corrections to my list).
