| Russ Lipton Documents Radio simplex veri sigillum How To Create A Category Categories are a powerful Radio feature. You can use them to ... ... organize your own private posts into topics - no one sees them but you and/or ... create sections within your weblog that are published as part of your weblog and/or ... create additional weblogs that can be published to other Internet servers and/or ... create XML feeds that can be subscribed by other weblogs but which are not rendered as HTML files directly. Creating a category is easy: 1. Select Prefs from the Radio Command Menu. 2. Select Categories from the Weblog section with Prefs. 3. If Categories are not already enabled, check the box so you can use them. 4. Click the New Category Page link as shown above. 5. Enter the information for your Category. While it is very easy to change the description, be thoughtful about the Category Name. This can be changed too but Radio isn't quite as flexible about this due to the care taken by the product in managing what happens 'behind the scenes'. (Some name changes have implications that others don't). Most likely, you will want to render your category as HTML (that is, in the same way your weblog itself is rendered and displayed). Weblogs.Com treats each category as though it were a separate weblog for purposes of notifying other Radio users that you have recently updated. When you are done, your entries will look something like mine ... with obvious differences, of course: Press 'Submit' to create your new Category in Radio. 6. Radio will display its Category list with your new category listed: You can edit the information you just entered by clicking on the category name (in my case, Doc News above). (You can always reach this screen from the Categories Page within Prefs as per step 3. above). |
