County may force builders to recycle debris  Peter Felsenfeld reports that Contra Costa County is considering a construction debris recycling ordinance.[CCT - Transp&Growth]

"...But other builders worry new restrictions could hit them hard. Added costs would be passed on to home buyers, said Chris Truebridge, executive vice president of Shapell Industries. "When you think about the amount of time it takes to sort all the material, immediately that means more costs."

The paperwork could also become burdensome, said Guy Bjerke, vice president of the Home Builders Association of Northern California. "We just don't want the bureaucracy to get so laborious that it gets in the way of getting things done."..."
