Rowling's boy wizard in "Harry Potter and theSorcerer's Stone." The $19.99 toy features a "grooved stick and handle for easyriding," according to Toysrus.com, and, "enhancing the excitement are thevibrating effects." The Web site's review section is full of comments from parents who are amazedat the toy's popularity with their young daughters. One mom who bought thebroom for her son writes that his sister frequently "fights him over it" andcomplains that "the batteries drain too fast." Another notes, "When my 12-year-old daughter asked for this for her birthday, Ikind of wondered if she was too old for it, but she seems to love it." An equally enthusiastic parent marvels that "even my daughter's friends enjoyplaying with this fun toy. I was surprised at how long they can just sit in herroom and play with this magic broomstick!" One astute New Jersey mom says of her daughter: "It wasn't until after sheopened her gift and started playing with it that I realized the toy may offer amore than sensational experience. The broomstick has cute sound effects andvibrates . . . what were the creators of this toy thinking? She'll keep playingwith the Nimbus 2000, but with the batteries removed." "As always, the well-being of children is our top priority," Mattel rep SaraRosales told PAGE SIX's Jared Paul Stern. "And we in no way consider this toyto be inappropriate." Meanwhile, parents of young Harry Potter fanatics may have more to worry aboutwith the next movie in the series. The London Times recently reported thatChris Columbus, director of the first two installments, won't be helming thethird. Alfonso Cuaron, director of the sexually explicit coming-of-age flick "YTu Mama Tambien," may be taking his place. The Harry Potter franchise has already come under fire from Christian groupsfor its allegedly Satanic, anti-Christian message. A chruch pastor in NewMexico said he planned to burn the books in a "holy bonfire." The books werealso banned at a Christian school in Australia and a toy store chain inEngland.

C.Y.B.O.R.G.

M.I.K.E.: Machine Intended for Killing and ExplorationI love the acronym for my cat: C.O.D.Y.: Construct Optimized for Destruction and Yardwork

In Greece, use a Game Boy, go to jail. Markus persuaded a federal judge that the panel violated Roderick B. Carter's Sixth Amendment right to a jury comprised of his peers. Carter is black.''There is no way Mr. Carter can get a fair cross section of the community. That's especially true in this case where the overwhelmingly majority of G surnames are Hispanic,'' Markus said. The jury pool featured one black man and five black women.Markus said he didn't rely on any fancy statistical analyses to bolster his point, just the phone book. The ''G'' section of the Miami White Pages is 80 pages long.According to Markus, more than half of those residential listing pages -- 43 to be exact -- are filled with just five surnames: 14 pages of Garcias, six pages of Gomezes, 18 pages of Gonzalezes, two pages of Guerras and three pages of Gutierrezes.

posted by swift » May 15 4:40 PM | 11 comments. Colorado boys punished by school administrators for pretending index fingers are guns. The boys were shooting at imaginary aliens. Its mind-control properties were discovered in 1864 by Lincoln's Special Technical Investigation Corps while investigating a cave used by the Hopi for rehabilitation of miscreants, but it wasn't practical for wide deployment until transmutation was perfected in 1943. Certain areas, notably the Los Angeles basin which is plagued by atmospheric inversions, have already suffered significant mental distortion, and the uncontrolled release of argon has therefore been banned by de facto international agreement. continued... If you've ever worked in retail, you MUST download this song. Apparently, back in the mid 1960's, Woolworth decided that the best way to motivate their managers was to hire one Michael Brown to compose and sing a snappy pop tune just for them, with predictably bizarre results. Here at the store, it's become our new anthem. For more info the tune and it's creator go here and scroll down.
