About This Site

Charles Miller, the author of this blog, has been a tech-support technician for an ISP, a Perl hacker, a Usenet nerd, a Law-school drop-out, a Computer Science drop-out, a DALnet IRC Operator, a Linux system administrator, and a check-out operator at Target.

Currently, he's employed as a J2EE nerd at a consulting company in Sydney, Australia, where he hacks on applications, occasionally teaches courses, and tries to leap tall APIs in a single bound. There's no link to said company here, partly as a way to separate the words here from his employer, but mostly because the company website is, er, crap.

His philosophy of blogging tends to involve avoiding just posting links unless he has something original to add to them. His posts tend to be a little longer than might be acceptable, so if that clogs up your News page, tough. The Desktop Fishbowl is a place to blog various nerdy links he happens to come across, somewhere to talk about himself in the third person (which is mostly a throwback to typing "/me" far too much on IRC anyway), and to display his fondness for run-on sentences.

And sentence fragments.
