Ramadan
"Every year, 1.5 billion Muslims around the world celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan begins upon the sighting of the first crescent moon of the ninth month of the Muslim calendar, which is arranged according to the lunar year. Because of this, it is only possible to give approximate dates for the beginning and the end of Ramadan. This year, it starts on the 16th November. "11:03:33 PM #
And In Other Cheery News . . .
Michael C. Dorf (obviously the name of a law professor) writes:
"The short-term picture for law school graduates has rarely been grimmer. Firms that lavished meals and Broadway show tickets on their numerous summer recruits just a few years ago have recently laid off quite a few of those same recruits--now associates. Meanwhile, they have drastically cut back on the number of new associates hired.
"Graduates of elite schools have far fewer options than in the recent past, while graduates of other schools must struggle to find any gainful employment."
While one might be forgiven a little schadenfreude over the prospect of second-year law students at expensive schools forgoing their champagne brunches and cocktail receptions at the nation's elite factory firms, the news is not particularly palatable to those who grind out our daily bread in law practice.
