Updating The Glossary

Quick and Dirty Glossary Usage:

WHAT: The glossary feature allows you define shortcuts that are expanded into their full text by Radio upon rendering

WHY: Instead of having to remember or locate a url or otherwise lengthy piece of text you can assign a shortcut and then in your posting the shortcut is replaced with the value you define.

HOW: (I did it....)

  1. Open the Radio Application.
  2. Click on the Window menu.
  3. Select Radio.root from the menu listing
  4. Double-click on user -> tree expands
  5. Double-click on html -> tree expands
  6. Double-click on glossary -> tree expands
  7. You're now looking at every glossary entry built into Radio
  8. I would adjust the Value by resizing the column towards the left
  9. Now you'll see the link values for each glossary shortcut
  10. Click any where on the tree below glossary
  11. Choose the Table menu -> New Scalar -> String
  12. Enter the name you'll use as a shortcut (ie. nif for NewsIsFree) and click OK
  13. Place the cursor in the Value column for the newly created entry
  14. Type in the text you wish to replace the shorcut with (ie. a <a href> tag) and hit ENTER
  15. Close Radio.root
  16. That's it! Now just enter your shorcut in quotes (ie. News Is Free ) in a posting and the shortcut will be replaced by the value you entered above.
  17. Repeat as needed.

** Disclaimer: This information is offered as is.  It worked for me and that's about all that I can offer.  This may not be the easiest or only way to accomplish this, but it's the only means I've come accross so far.

Beaware that Radio.root is the 'engine' script of Radio, so you really want to be careful that you don't accidently change any other settings unless you're sure about what you're doing.
