Catholics Must Examine Crisis in Priesthood. Newsday Mar 14 2002 9:29AM ET [Moreover - Catholic news] The writer has this all wrong. The issue here isn't that celibate priests are mollesting children, the real issue here is that the primary mission of the Roman Catholic church is to preserve the priesthood at all costs. When a church is expending all it's energy on self preservation rather than spreading the Gospel, its foundation is crumbling and it is at risk of collapsing.
