Billy Liar
Danny Morrison
With the first week of the election campaign over there is no doubt that the prize of Billy Liar has to go to the DUP. DUP omits to say that if there were then the main parties, including the DUP, might have the option of taking the post itself, under the d'Hondt principle. But why let the facts interfere with a good scare story of Gerry Kelly being in charge of the peelers and being saluted by the Chief Constable Sir Hugh Orde!

IRA didn't fire a single shot - McGuinness
The orders to the Volunteers were very clear, and the orders were that under no circumstances whatsoever were they to engage with the British Army during the course of the civil rights protest. No one who was a member of the IRA was under any illusion whatsoever about that fact.

Address to Ard-Fheis 2003
Ruairí Ó Bradaigh
A Chathaoirligh, a theachtaí is a cháirde ar fad,

Céad míle fáilte romhaibh ag an Ard-Fheis seo, an 99ú ceann de chuid Shinn Féin.

When last we met in national convention the restored Stormont had just been suspended - for the fourth time in as many years and the seventh occasion since 1972. All of this demonstrates the chronic instability of English rule in Ireland. More than a year later it has still not been re-assembled - the artificial means cobbled together to administer an artificial statelet remains in crisis.
