On Wednesday I read an article in the Daily Herald about roughly $300M being drained out of the economy due to workers skipping work to see Star Wars Episode II. I think it was mostly the IT budget. It seemed like everybody I talked to at the theatre yesterday afternoon was involved with Web development. Productivity continues to be down today. Not so much because people are skipping work to see the movie. Rather, everybody that has not seen it is stopping by to see what I thought of it. Everybody that did see it is stopping by to compare notes. As happens with a technical crowd, most of the discussions are pretty involved. I bet the same is happening in other companies all across the country. Since non-viewers are now affected, does that mean another $600M is being lost today? |

I came across this interesting article about ActiveWords at Ernie's site today. This sounds like a technology for me. I am going to give it a go this morning. Hopefully I will have something worthwhile to say about it later in the day. 9:56:50 AM |
