Cinema Minima's Home page was offline for a few hours 2006 July 31 Monday, while its IT department performed maintenance. Now it is online again.
Thanks to Correspondent Martin Leduc for promptly sending a bug report about an error message which appeared in place of the home page.
The problem had been caused by a tiny bug in the spam-blocking software application, which had been upgraded recently. The bug -- the name of a folder was spelled with caps-and-lowercase characters, while the application expected to find a folder whose name was spelled with lowercase characters only -- has been fixed.
The spam-blocking application attempts to prevent spammers from "scraping" Cinema Minima's Web pages for email addresses and other information which they may use to send out junk mail. Even if the spammers do not find email addresses -- Cinema Minima's Web site "scrambles" the code of any email addresses it publishes -- their requests for pages are burdens for the Web server.
