I drove most of the day Saturday from Virginia back up to Rhode Island.
I hadn't seen Jack in three weeks and he lit up so much when he woke up from his nap and found me in his room. Yesterday and today (Sunday) he's been so happy and has been taking me around to see everything, play with him, and has kept hugging me.
And the best part is that I am not going away from him again. This long four month exile where I lived and worked in the DC area while Ann and Jack lived up here in RI is over. When I leave this weekend to return south, they come with me for good.
It's been a difficult time but we got through it. And now it's over. I have my family back!
In other news, Ann and I went and saw the IMAX version of Beauty and the Beast today in Providence. It was amazing even if there were places where the fact that te backgrounds were static paintings was painfully obvious. We both still agree that we liked the beast as a beast rather than as a man.
What blew us away was the number of people who brought little children to the movie. By little, I mean kids who were under 4. This includes 2 year olds like Jack. We would never take him to such a movie. The scenes involving the wolves and the fight between Gaston and the Beast at the end are very frightening and children that young do no yet have the ability to really tell fact from fiction. As we expected, most of those children were taken from the theater in tears by their surprised parents. Are that many parents that unaware of child development? Do they lack that much common sense? To us, not taking Jack was a no-brainer.
Anyway, it was a "shake our heads" kind of afternoon.
