The only thing I ever liked about mainframes was that the compiler messages measured compile times for me in Julian dates. I always thought Julian dates to be superior. If PC's had been around before Pope Gregory XIII, we would still be using the "Star Date" just like Captain Kirk :-)

There is also such as thing known as the Modified Julian Date

Installing Linux on a Wal-Mart OS-less PC
Is $398 for a 1 GHz Duron worth the price without an OS, errr a Microsoft OS? Damned straight it is!
