Newfoundland Adventure
A Trip to the Rock

Highway

Going Further.

We went to Newfoundland because it was off the map.

Two years earlier, we took a family trip to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. There's lots to remember about that trip. But above all, I remember the moment we returned to the U.S. I remember feeling flooded and wanting to go back to the island and its peace.

When it came time to plan our next big trip, I looked at going to the Rockies or the deserts of the Southwest. But there was so much driving from the east coast, it hardly seemed like an escape.

Nova Scotia, on the other hand, was close. But on the map was a place even farther away, Newfoundland. I didn't know anyone who had ever been there. It wasn't famous.

I suspected it was empty. Of course it wasn't.
