From the mailbag, paraphrasing ..... "What led you to learn scripting and HTML? How did you learn them? Where's the starting point for someone over-the-hill?" As someone who hit the big five-oh last year, I resemble that remark about over-the-hill. While late-teeners make the best 24x7 coders, I suspect some of us boomers (e.g., Dave Winer) will be developing cool software into their seventies and eighties or beyond. I would recommend computer skills as a great way to keep the gray matter in shape into the, um, senior years. Anyway, I'm thinking I will dig up a few links to useful scripting, HTML and web design tutorials on the Web (hint: how about some help from you-all out there on stuff that is current and literate)? I will also answer your question about me more directly over the next few days. Or so. Meanwhile, this is Userland's best tutorial on website building and scripting. Though I haven't checked recently, I bet nearly all of it applies even today, since the underlying product components are still available in Radio as well as Frontier.
