The DoIT Academic Technology group at the University of Wisconson - Madison has come up with a creative way to promote podcasting at the university. They’ve created an award program. The award provides $800 and up to 10 hours of help per instructor. They also offer a complete site explaining podcasting and how to use podcasting in education. There’s no word as to how many awards will be distributed.
The announcement offers some suggestions about how to integrate podcasting into the classroom.
o Provide portable access to course sound files (e.g., bird songs, poetry readings, historical speeches, music)
o Elaborate on concepts raised in class (e.g., interview experts, explain new examples, relevant research findings)
o Answer frequently asked questions with your voice, instead of email
o Give tips on completing assignments or preparing for class activities
o Have students create podcast projects
