> Macromedia would like some more money from me
Macromedia pushes subscription plan. The company announces a new software-by-subscription program along with an upgrade to its MX line of products.

Ouch, I paid retail last fall for Studio MX for use on my Powerbook, that was $800 I believe, I've bought the 1st DRK for another $100, and was about to get off my duff and buy the 2nd. Now Macromedia is suggesting that the full MX suite plus the DRKs are worth $1,500/year? I'll wait for the full details, but I'll say right now I hope this extra content is worth it.

Now the Essentials service at $300/year for just the DRKs doesn't sound too bad. I've been impressed with the DRK content and if they stick to a quarterly release schedule and keep the content value up, I'll be a happy customer there.

Update: I see now that existing Studio MX customers can get started with DevNet for $600. If they do release the next versions of Flash and Dreamweaver this year along with 2 additional good quality DRKs, it would definitely be worth my cash. $1,000/year for keep it renewed, still uncertain about that one though.

> Trying activeRenderer
Starting to work/play with activeRenderer in the hope of making it easier to do the day to day updates I want here.
