Totally freaky. My ipaq 3800 battery drained completely dead. This is the word on how to get it to EVER TURN ON AGAIN: "Use a paper clip to hold the reset button while you are putting it into the docking station in order to get it powered."

The good news is that if you have a new kernel and new apm, it's supposed to charge OK while it's off. The bad news is that I have the new kernel and apm, and my ipaq doesn't charge while it's off.

More bad news: I avoid second-millenial tech like paper clips. Not a single one in the house. Fortunately, I found my pipe cleaners. I used to make cubicle-drone art with them at Etrade. (Ah, the good old days.)
