AboutMe

I was born in Faringdon, UK in 1964. In 1976 my parents moved to Germany and I have been living here ever since. I am married with 3 children - which keeps me on my toes most of the time. My first computing experience was with a VIC20 and Apple II back in 1980-something. During the past 20 odd years I have learnt and written code in PASCAL, BASIC, COBOL, C, C++, JAVA (in order of appearance) with some 6502 assembler thrown in for good measure. (Anyone remember squeezing your own code into the zero-page on the VIC20 – because there was some memory there you could use? Ah well….times change).
My working day consists mostly of leading the open source group at S&N. The group was started in 1999 with the aim of building solutions for our customers on top of open source and also providing the support and know how that companies need if they are interested in getting into or using open source. |
My current interests center around making emerging technologies useful and the impact technologies such as weblogs are having on the way commercial corporations can communicate with their customers or internally. I enjoy speaking on topics such as XML, web applications, Open Source, Weblogs and other emerging technologies, so if you would like me to come and talk about something - then just drop me a mail!
At the beginning of December 2002 I became Apache Committer #600.
