We have updated the Macromedia Designer and Developer center with new Flash MX content today. I am particularly excited about this release because we have an entire chapter from Colin Moock's upcoming ActionScript for Flash MX : The Definitive Guide.

Flash Player for Palm.

Phillip Torrone noticed that Sony has listed the Flash 5 Player as software included with their new Clie.

While just having a flash player on a Palm device is pretty cool, this is even better, given the wireless capabilities that the PEGNX70V has going for it. Now, I can forsee not only a digital dash, but a first gen personal assistant, living on a server that updates you wirelessly over the network.

While I admit that "Clippy" comes to mind when I think of a personal assistant, I am thinking more along the lines of the Higgins product I keep going on about. So how does Higgins help you while you are on the road? Since you can't get updates, it would work as an overlay to your existing datebook, reading and writing to the data, and synching when you are in range.

Seperately, you could have PC games that allow you to play while away from your machine, as well as playing mini games against others while you are both on your Palms. This is nothing new in terms of gaming, only in terms of platform.

Flash MX Reference Panel in Dreamweaver.

I think I have posted this before, but there have been some requests for it lately, so here it is again:

Waldo Smeets created a Dreamweaver MX panel that loads the Flash MX Reference panel into Dreamweaver. This is super useful if you are using Dreamweaver MX to edit external ActionScript files (which I have been doing more and more).

Help me test a Flash Communication Server App.

I am going to be testing a simple Flash Communication Server app on Wednesday (July 24) at 1pm est, and need some (a lot) of people to join to see how it handles the bandwidth. The app basically allows me to broadcast to everyone who is connected.

I will post the link here on Wednesday, so if you pass a link around, pass the link to this article.
