Additionally:

The Resource Discovery Network (RDN) is a well-known and highly regarded web directory of academic resources, compiled by volunteers working in colleges, universities and related organizations throughout the United Kingdom.

The RDN is also an outstanding gateway to thousands of Invisible Web sites that's as close to a search engine for the hidden web as you're likely to find. Check out "Gateway to the Invisible Web" for more details on this valuable directory. (SOURCE: "Honing Your Web Searching Skills")

I have added RDN to my link farm. Thank you Search Day!

AncientMexico.com

While most one-person, non-commercial sites tend to be fan pages, weblogs, or online collections, Patrick Olivares has created a site one would normally expect from a museum or other educational institution. While still a work in progress, AncientMexico.com provides a highly accessible introduction to the history and culture of ancient Mesoamerica. (SOURCE: Christian Science Monitor)

The Saddam Show (Paul Boutin)

Viewers be warned: American TV networks make daily decisions on what to show or not to show their viewers. On the Internet, it's easy to route around those decisions. If blogging makes everyone a journalist, then tricks like this one make everyone their own news producer. If you're squeamish, or if you're the relative of an American soldier, you may not want to watch images that the TV networks have deemed unfit for American audiences. But if you want to narrowcast the Iraq Satellite Channel to yourself to see what's being fed to the Iraqi people during this war, you can.

Details and instructions can be found in this Slate article. (thanks boingboing)

Happy Helmet Revisited (Raj Persuad)

Does the biological structure of our brains program us to believe in God? Recent advances in "neurotheology" have even prompted some scientists to propose they can induce the kind of holy visions of prophets, even in those who have never experienced religious belief.

Dr Michael Persinger of Laurentian University, Canada, has devised a special helmet that uses electromagnetic fields to induce electrical changes in the brain's temporal lobes, which are linked with religious belief.

So confident is he that God is all in the mind, or the brain at least, that Dr Persinger claims he can induce mystical feelings in a majority of those willing to don his Transcranial Magnetic Stimulator. (SOURCE: "Holy visions elude scientists", The Daily Telegraph)

Social Networking Site List

My continuing review of social networking tools and software has lead me to many sites each with slightly different functionality twists. This collection listed today is in no particular order merely a summary to explore. My key interest is in the functionalities and how they are impacting on consumer experiences and benefits. Too many of these use copycat functionalities and are not addressing consumer issues. For broad use... they must be kept simple.

From the Unbound Spiral weblog. Interesting site. Recently mentioned topics include social software, relationship KM, social networking, digital identity, and the perils of e-mail. The post in question mentions lots of emerging companies and technologies. Looks like I need to add this one to my RSS feed!
