This editorial itself doesn't so much interest me as one short paragraph in it does, and I quote:
"The reaction from most journalists in the "liberal media" was embarrassed silence. I don't quite understand why, but there are some things that you're not supposed to say, precisely because they're so clearly true. "
Let me give a brief explination on why. In order to preserve their precarious mental balance between life and insanity they need to evade certain facts. The only way to do this and still be a journalist is to avoid saying anything concrete. This also has the affect of making it seem as though reality doesn't exist and only vaugeness reigns. If they had to look at the naked truth, i.e. the Objective truth, it would cause their minds to spiral into destruction. At that point they would start to see all the causal connections between their words and ideas and view the horror of what they've help to create. No man can live with the knowledge that he is completely evil he will either lose his sanity or die. That is the nature of their game, only by playing linguistic games can they evade the knowledge they dread to name.
