Fibrofog - fact or fiction?

When I was first diagnosed with fibro, I did quite a bit of research. One topic that was always came up was fibrofog - mental fuzziness and forgetfulness. It was, and still is, discussed frequently on my fibro list-serv. But, I was always just a little skeptical - I mean, come on, "fibrofog?" Sheesh...

Well guess what - the harder they laugh, the harder they fall.  I am now here to say that it exists and it can get beyond ridiculous. In my experience, for the past two years, it's come and gone. Which according to the strict diagnostic criteria, means it does not count as fibrofog - it's not supposed to be cyclical. However, my case seems to be tied to my menstrual cycle. And at it's worst, it's comical. I can't even remember conversations of twenty minutes ago. I also find that I have probems speaking and enunciating. It's like being drunk.

Why do I write about this today? Well, I seem to be sinking into a mild case. I can still remember conversations, but I'm forgetting items right and left (which I normally never do) and I'm having problems speaking.

Sometimes this stuff is just flat out ridiculous...
