Taiko

Photographs
After work, I had about two hours before taiko, so I decided to use the time to put the photos I took in Taishakukyo onto the internet. They're here...

Web sites worthy of mention...

Penultimate lesson in the Naval Base this morning. I continued with the PowerPoint presentation of Britain I started last week. I had intended that the remaining photos would only take half of the lesson, and I'd prepared some question cards and a sheet on emails in English accordingly, but in the end with both classes I finished with only about three minutes to spare. Not that I mind; it's good that there were plenty of questions. This lesson is after all a chance for the lieutenants to use English, rather than to listen to me for the whole lesson.
At the end of the second lesson, I asked the group what they wanted to do for the next (the final) lesson, and- of course!- there were no suggestions, so I nominated one person to get everyone's opinions and send me an email by next Tuesday. I threatened that if there was no email, I would find something difficult to do... Anyway, the chap I nominated took his responsibility very seriously, and wouldn't let the class leave for lunch until everything was sorted! They eventually decided they'd give me a tour of the base- in English- and they even went as far as to decide who would explain which areas of the base. I should use this method more often! I did feel a little bad that they were nearly twenty minutes late for lunch, though...
Apart from this, today's lessons were interesting in another way too. For some reason, the normally quiet group were lively and eager to banter, while the normally lively group were quiet and unresponsive. I wonder why?
