Dave hits Western PA

Greetings from Belle Vernon, PA. Last night I was so exhausted I didn't even try to log in from Vandalia, IL. Took it a little easier today, had a boring but smooth drive through Indiana and Ohio. Tomorrow I'll drive across Pennsylvania and Murphy-willing, arrive in NYC in early afternoon. Looks like I'll be in Boston Monday or Tuesday.
Well I invited Dave to breakfast in Pittsburgh. My guess is that he will be too busy to attend. But then again stranger things have happend.

Bath Time

Then I got ambitious and decided to bathe the dogs. Whiskey did well on the whole, but Gracie was a basket case. Complete freak-out with loss of bowel control. Next time, I take them to the do-it-yourself doggie wash. Easier on them (non-skid surfaces in the baths) and on my back (not having to lift them into/out of the tub).[ViewFromTheHeart]

We don't have any problem getting Lily to take a bath. We actually have to watch her now when we start the water for a shower. One time I started the water and left the room for a second, next thing I hear is a couple of thumps from the bathroom. I go in and Lily is in the tub ready and waiting for a bath. She has even learned to lift her hind legs so that we can scrub her belly. Of course washing a pug is a little easier than washing a couple of greyhounds.

Mmmm... Bread

Well, the loaves came out great! At first I was thinking of freezing one of the loaves, but seeing as one the loaves is almost gone, I don't think that I will need to. Warm bread just from the oven is so good.

Baking Bread

I am making my first loaves of bread right now. I have always liked the PBS show Baking Bread with Father Dominic, and I even have a Danish dough wisk, but this is the first time that I have tried to make something. I have started with Honey Oatmeal Bread. Should be done in about 30 min.

He is asserting dominance. He is threatened by your presence, and is trying to show you who's boss. Not a problem with a small dog, but if you're working with a Dane or a St. Bernard it can be an extreme eye-opener. [ViewFromTheHeart]

Lily will occasionally hump her bed. That will show her bed who's the boss. :)

Birthday dinner

It was my wife's birthday this past Thursday. She requested my Rack of Lamb stuffed with Garlic and Herbs for dinner. So I made that for her and her parents, sister, and brother-in-law. I made three racks this time. It came out a little more rare than usual, next time I'll have to bump up the time if I am doing more than one rack.

Rolling Stones

We saw the Rolling Stones last night Mellon Arena (Where the Pittsburgh Penguins play). It was a pretty good show. The Stones have so much music out that I only recognized 6 or 7 songs. I'm not a huge Stones fan. It's not because I don't like them, I just never got into there music. I have to say it seemed like time is catching up with Mick. Maybe I was overanticipating it, but I had always heard that he was really active on stage. It was good, but I think that I like smaller venues better.
