my test is over. it wasn't that bad for me since lots of the questions were exactly from my roommate's test 3 years ago. i think i got about 9 points off and the exam i think was out of about 100. i'm not quite sure but i am hoping for an A. there were some confusing questions; one so bad he had to throw part of it out. it had to do w/ a horse that had fluid loss equal to 6% of its body weight and a hematocrit of 50%. how much fluid did the horse lose? that was easy to calculate but then he wanted to know what percentage of plasma volume was lost as fluid. no one seemed to understand how to calculate it since at this point he had said several confusing things as he was trying to make the question more clear. thirdly if you put back the fluid that was lost what would the new hematocrit be? i got part a right, part b we all get 2 points and part c i got wrong.

usually friday afternoons we're supposed to go spend time w/ our senior mentor in the clinics but most people have been too tired. i'm doing laundry, cleaning up, organizing bills and resting i hope. i don't have a test next friday so i'll go to the clinics then.

okay i'm going to bed. i've studied all i can. i'm prepared for whatever the outcome my be. i think i've mastered the henderson-hasselbach equation and can use it to tell if a drug will accummulate in the stomach or not, i know how to calculate drug doses, i have my sodium-potassium transporters down fairly well but i think dr. ross might throw some other stuff at me i'm not prepared for. too bad! i'm going to bed. hopefully i fall asleep.

QUOTES

It's better to burp and bear the shame than not to burp and bear the pain.

Grandpa Martin, RIP

Keep your wits about you.

Dr. Wally Cash, DVM

If the present sucks, then look to the future.

RobReed, BadBoy

Well, I want to try everything in life.

Heather Rose Martin, CFG (crazy freak girl)

In the book of life there's only two women, big ol' good ones and good ol' big ones.

Ice Cube, HipHopper

I'd rather have a terrorist standing next to me than a Frenchman. (~15 min. later) Oh, I forgot about that, that's another reason I don't like the French, they eat horses.

Dr. Dee Griffin, DVM

Think about it. Sometimes people are just destined, destined to do, what they do. And that's what it is. Now everybody dance.

Justin Timberlake, Hottie!

Even in medicine, though it is easy to know what honey, wine and hellebore, cautery and surgery are, to know how and to whom and when to apply them so as to effect a cure is no less an undertaking than to be a [veterinarian].

Aristotle, 384-322 BC

Going to Kansas for Vet School is like going to the Special Olympics to play chess.

RobReed, BoyGenius

Now you can either stand around here eatin' jambalaya or you can come upstairs and eat my ass!

Brian Kinney, QAF Hottie!

This isn't an ad. Amazon.com has a lot of stuff and if you're buying retail chances are they have what you're looking for at a price comparable to or lower than what you'll pay somewhere else. I'll use this space to link to products at Amazon.com that I talk about in my posts or things that are significant to me for some reason. I hope you find all of this useful. By the way, if you purchase through my site I get a little kick back. Thanks!
