hello everybody.

i'm getting ready for bed soon. i'm tired. i haven't taken a break except for lunch cause my gross test is friday. i'm pretty nervous for this one, as usual i guess. i've been studying at home from the book and at the lab on the dog.

we got a couple emails from dr. troyer, our microanatomy professor, with negative feedback regarding our test last friday. now i'm worried i did worse than i think.

here's his first email from this morning:

Hello Class, We don't have the lecture exam results back yet;however, most of the lab exams have been graded.   Many questions were missed because the question was not read correctly (e.g. classify vs name an epithelium).   However, the high score is a 98% and there were a number of scores in the 90s; unfortunately there were also a few in the 50s and several in the 60s.   Since a few questions were missed by many people, and we did some things differently in this lab exam, I have decided to give you a significant number of extra points.  However, there is a caveat:  I am not going to award the points until late in the semester, and how many are awarded and whether they are awarded at all depend on you.....if your attitude is good, you are taking the course seriously, you are working hard and trying to get as much out of it as possible then all the points will be awarded, and they will significantly help everyone. Another reason those of you who didn't do so well can be hopeful:  we will begin extra help sessions on the multihead scope probably beginning this week.....they will probably be near the end of Thursday's lab; the sessions are optional, and are for those who got below a 70 on the lab exam.  It's not unusual for students who did badly on the first exam to be among the best scores later on. Also, I apologize for the bad handwriting on the bonus questions: we were out of time and they were written in haste....we'll try to improve that in future exams. DT

then he sent another one later in the afternoon:

I have discovered much to my consternation that one of the questions on the exam could have been an unfair one because I apparently inadvertantly led some people to believe it wouldn't be on the exam.    It was the one about the Haversian canal being like an extracellular lysosome...what I meant was that a question like that one that you had not been exposed to wouldn't be on the exam but that anything directly pertaining to Histology in the PBL or review or during lab is fair game even though you may have only heard about it for the first time there.   Apparently some of you thought I meant this question wouldn't be on the exam.  I checked and only a handful of people missed it; I have given them credit for it because the last thing we want to do is to be unfair.   Also, we have changed a few graded questions to try to help you out so some of you may have a lot of ink across the top.   For example on the first question we decided to accept 'transitional' even though the question obviously said 'name' the epithelium. Incidentally, the early Christmas package in extra points remains unchanged in amount as long as the conditions are met. All the best, DT

i don't think he's too happy with us.

well i have to get to bed so i make it through the week without crashing.

hi billy, i love you!

QUOTES

It's better to burp and bear the shame than not to burp and bear the pain.

Grandpa Martin, RIP

Keep your wits about you.

Dr. Wally Cash, DVM

If the present sucks, then look to the future.

RobReed, BadBoy

Well, I want to try everything in life.

Heather Rose Martin, CFG (crazy freak girl)

In the book of life there's only two women, big ol' good ones and good ol' big ones.

Ice Cube, HipHopper

I'd rather have a terrorist standing next to me than a Frenchman. (~15 min. later) Oh, I forgot about that, that's another reason I don't like the French, they eat horses.

Dr. Dee Griffin, DVM

Think about it. Sometimes people are just destined, destined to do, what they do. And that's what it is. Now everybody dance.

Justin Timberlake, Hottie!

Even in medicine, though it is easy to know what honey, wine and hellebore, cautery and surgery are, to know how and to whom and when to apply them so as to effect a cure is no less an undertaking than to be a [veterinarian].

Aristotle, 384-322 BC

Going to Kansas for Vet School is like going to the Special Olympics to play chess.

RobReed, BoyGenius

Now you can either stand around here eatin' jambalaya or you can come upstairs and eat my ass!

Brian Kinney, QAF Hottie!
