what did i do today? well mom woke me up and we went to green lakes to run meeting dedra there plus jo anne and her husband mike who live in massachusetts and dedra went to school w/ jo anne and they're still friends. we did just over an hour i think and it was really tough cause there was lots of snow on the trails and we went on them anyway. i'm assuming i'll be sore tomorrow but i haven't been all week when i was expecting to be since i normally don't run in snow or on hills in kansas.

then i took a shower, started laundry and went to bring my dad's car back. i stayed and hung out trying to watch the miami game but it was the worst thing ever. miami blew an 11 point lead w/ 3 min. left in the game. new england won right away in overtime w/ a field goal. for miami to get the wild card spot, if they would have won that game they would have won the division, the jets have to lose against green bay which i thought was for sure but last i knew the jets were up 35-10 or something. so probably miami is out, jets win the division and new england has the wild card.

then i went to tammy's for about an hour, rob reed, jenn and billy were in town at this point but rob couldn't find his mother or brother so they were at the mall. i stayed at tammy's for about an hour. all the babies were up this time and we played around. i chased nathan around the house and gabby their dog was all into me. i guess she's jealous of the babies and no one pays much attention to her anymore and since i was she wouldn't stop licking me and stuff. then i met rob reed, jenn and billy at my dad's and we socialized billy w/ bailey. it wasn't too bad but they didn't instantly get along. it took a little bit, bailey was being kinda protective of his house and billy was just being older dog. then we went to my mom's and got my stuff and are now on the road. billy is lying here next to me and it's so cool to be w/ him again.

rob reed isn't speaking to me already; he was for about the first hour and then i pissed him off by being an ungrateful bitch and then he told me off and now won't really talk to anyone.

it's 1:13a saturday but i'm writing first about thursday since i haven't yet.

thursday morning i was supposed to go running and swimming w/ mom and dedra but that didn't work out so mom and i went out to the outlet mall to return a pair of pants she bought my brother. i ended up getting a pair of jeans at calvin klein, candles at yankee candle and sweats at reebok.

then we went and picked up grandma for lunch. grandpa was there but he's not doing well. he just sits in his chair mostly, hooked up to oxygen and lets life pass by.

we went to eat lunch in baldwinsville cause it's near aunt margaret's and we went to visit her after. hanging out w/ mom and grandma is neat cause we represent 3 generations and you learn lots of cool stuff about family and history and relationships. the last few years i've had some quality time w/ grandma and it's really cool cause you realize she's more than just 'grandma.'

after lunch we went to visit aunt margaret. if you don't know the story of aunt margaret it's very interesting but i'll just summarize. she's 79 years old (grandma is 78) and she met grandma in the orphanage way back when. grandma says the kids there were so mean to aunt margaret and called her 'apey morgan' and she wet the bed, etc. grandma looked out for her and they've been friends ever since. she's always been a part of the family, helping w/ my grandma's kids and then their kids', etc. she's not the brightest bulb in the box but she means well and would do anything for us. lots of jokes are made at her expense; that's just part of it. anyway the story is about 3 months ago uncle brian backed the van into aunt margaret, i assume he didn't see her, and she broke her ankle really bad. she was in the hosptial and then a nursing home for i think she said 9 weeks and 1 day. now she's back at her apartment but she sits in a wheelchair most of the time and needs a walker to get around. she gets meals-on-wheels now and aides come to clean her and her apartment, do laundry, etc. and someone checks out her leg and gets her doing some rehab. it's all so unfortunate cause before this she was perfectly fine physically for a 79 year old and even volunteered at this senior center. now she just can't wait to get back volunteering but it seems like it'll take her some time before she's 100%.

she's lived at this apartment for about 11 years or so and this was the first time i had been there. she has a cat named peaches who i had yet to meet also. it was a very interesting time is what i will say. when i was little i used to go to her apartment in downtown syracuse lots and she'd take us around the city and introduce us to lots of people and make us grilled cheese or whatever we wanted. she even taught me how to draw a person's face, ouch!! no so good :0(

anyway that was most of my day yesterday. we drove grandma home and then mom and i met gary downtown for a couple beers and talked about family and stuff. then we went home and mom made dinner and we had some wine from california not france cause of the 9 bottles they got in france only 2 weren't stolen and those 2 have to sit around for 5-10 years mom said.

after dinner i took mom's car to cousin tammy's to hang out and see the triplets. cameron had surgery that day for a double hernia so when i got there he was asleep and nathan and luke were up for a bit. they soon feel asleep so i didn't see them much but i got to talk w/ tammy for a few hours. then i came home and tried to sleep but basically laid there most of the night.

mom woke me this morning to drive out to oneida where we ran about 5 miles and then went swimming at the y. i only did 24 laps but it was my first time since late august when i did danskin. reminds me i have lots to work on.

then we showered and got ready and went to this sporting goods store where my mom bought me this cool helly hansen orange winter coat. i wanted a waterproof one that was pretty warm for riding my bike to class and it was normally $240 but we got it half off. then we ate a nice lunch and drove back to syracuse where we then stopped at carousel mall. mom and i got haircuts and then we went to spend my gift certificate. the bad thing was it was for $100 and you had to spend at least half of it in the same store. there wasn't a store that i really wanted to spend $50 so that was the trouble. i ended up getting a couple sweaters at H&M (hey cool, my initials, or what jonathan calls me, HM, high maintenance) for $60 so i have $40 left but i spent so much the other days i should just keep the money.

i tried on a bunch of stuff there but was very discouraged w/ their clothes and my body. the size 8s were fitting me but just not right. the waist would be too big and then the rest would bunch up and make my butt look huge or something so that by the time i was done i felt like a size 80. i haven't gained weight or anything but i'm afraid i'm not as buff as i was this summer. i need to start toning back up.

while at the mall dad called and asked if i wanted to go eat w/ jeremy and hallie. we decided on the dinosaur barbecue and mom dropped me off after the mall. we had some beer while we waited for out table and finally got to sit down. it's a very small place compared to its popularity. i got this half pound shrimp meal w/ barbecue beans, mashed potatoes and cornbread. i even got sweet potato pie for dessert. my dad was acting weird and he kept telling people i was his date. it wasn't even like he was talking to them or anything. we'd just be sitting there and he'd blurt it out if someone looked our way. i kept telling him to shut up cause it was creepy since he's actually my father, plus there was a cute boy there and i didn't want him to think i was taken, especially by a man 26 years my senior. anyway dinner was good and then i went home w/ dad and played w/ bailey. that dog can be very dangerous when you rile him up and he starts biting really hard and all over.

dad let me take his car back to mom's; i just have to bring it back tomorrow.

i got home around 10p and then ended up dying my hair and watching this video i bought my mom for xmas last year i think about steve prefontaine, the awesome runner from oregon who went to the '72 olympics at 21 years old for the 5000m and took the lead in the last lap but ended up in fourth. it wasn't so bad cause he was really young comparatively and would just be back in '76 but in '75 was in a car wreck and died. this all happened the same time nike was started and actually bill bowerman was pre's coach and pre had a hand in the sneaks that were developed and all. pretty interesting story and lots of what could have been.

now i should be in bed but i'm writing this. i'll finish soon. rob and jenn are coming today to get me and take me back to boston. they're going to bring billy too so in less than 24 hours i'll get to see my puppy again. it's been so long!!! i'm going to bring him to dad's and see if he can get along w/ bailey. it'll be tricky but i want to try anyway. i don't think my dad will sue me if billy does something bad.

Justin Timberlake, Hottie!

Even in medicine, though it is easy to know what honey, wine and hellebore, cautery and surgery are, to know how and to whom and when to apply them so as to effect a cure is no less an undertaking than to be a [veterinarian].
