so the cornell leadership program is very similar to the one here at ksu. i think there's about 19 schools that participate and then at the end we all meet at the merck-merial symposium to present our research. i went to a meeting for the ksu program the other day cause i was going to apply since i didn't get into cornell. they said they were 75% sure they would be hosting the conference this year. that kinda sucks cause i'd rather go to a school i've never been. last year it was purdue. or it could be good cause then all my professors will be there and see what i did for the summer and maybe it'll interest them and i can keep working on something next year at ksu. anyway i'm still excited...

i have really good news!!! but first...

i got up this morning at 5:30a to go back to the gym. this time carrie didn't show up. turns out she overslept which is better than she hates me. anyway i had a fine workout on my own. too bad i have to see so many retarded guys lifting weight way to heavy and ruining their body in the process. they even use the mirror; don't they see it looks horrible?

then came home and showered and went to the lab. met fatima and rebecca to go to the clincs. there wasn't much going on today and we all have an interest in exotics so we went there. i didn't really want to cause i knew jonathan was there and i don't want to follow him around but i didn't want to deprive my friends. anyway we saw a little there and also checked out some horses in equine. a horse had an M1/ abscess which is cool cause we just spent lots of time of the head and teeth of the horse and how to go into the skull to get at different teeth. M1/ is upper first molar.

then we went back to the lab around noon and i was checking my email when...

i had an email from the cornell leadership program and a spot had opened so they offered it to me first and of course i took it!! i am so excited!!! this seems like such an awesome program. i'm doing research related to cancer biology and pathology for 10 weeks this summer, living at cornell for free w/ up to 25 other students some from overseas i think. we'll travel to dc i think for a conference and some other things.

i've been asked several times what excites me since most times i come off not so happy and i usually say 'not much but maybe watching sports' but this is definitely on the list. i am very very very excited and also kinda scared since it's the first time i'll be on my own doing research not in such a comfortable environment as dr. hynynen's lab where i can do what i want and even screw up sometimes.

plus hopefully i'll get to see my family lots cause i'm about 45 min. away and it's easier to get to boston as well.

well i just went running, about 6.5 miles. i ran to the gym and then went on the treadmill and then came home. the gym closes at midnite so i had to leave. now i'll shower and go to bed to get up at 5:30a to go back to the gym and meet carrie for a short run, weights: upper and lower body and stretching. i'm going to be tired. plus it's only 8 degrees out so i'm sure running there in 5 hours will suck. oh well, that's the price i must pay to try and look okay.

goodnight everybody

QUOTES

It's better to burp and bear the shame than not to burp and bear the pain.

Grandpa Martin, RIP

Keep your wits about you.

Dr. Wally Cash, DVM

If the present sucks, then look to the future.

RobReed, BadBoy

Well, I want to try everything in life.

Heather Rose Martin, CFG (crazy freak girl)

In the book of life there's only two women, big ol' good ones and good ol' big ones.

Ice Cube, HipHopper

I'd rather have a terrorist standing next to me than a Frenchman. (~15 min. later) Oh, I forgot about that, that's another reason I don't like the French, they eat horses.

Dr. Dee Griffin, DVM

Think about it. Sometimes people are just destined, destined to do, what they do. And that's what it is. Now everybody dance.

Justin Timberlake, Hottie!

Even in medicine, though it is easy to know what honey, wine and hellebore, cautery and surgery are, to know how and to whom and when to apply them so as to effect a cure is no less an undertaking than to be a [veterinarian].

Aristotle, 384-322 BC

Going to Kansas for Vet School is like going to the Special Olympics to play chess.

RobReed, BoyGenius

Now you can either stand around here eatin' jambalaya or you can come upstairs and eat my ass!

Brian Kinney, QAF Hottie!
