I'm on Spring Break and not doing much of anything which is bad. Though here's my excitement from yesterday, a smashed finger. What happened was...

my room is really small and can get stuffy, we've spent some time in the 70s here. I tried to open one of my windows and it didn't open so I tried the other. I got it open but it quickly shut, right on my right middle finger. My finger was literally trapped in there. I didn't know how I could get it out with only one arm since it took 2 arms to get it open but I couldn't risk leaving my finger in there forever (I was home alone). I tried just pulling out the finger but it wouldn't move. Then with a bunch of might I used my bad left arm to get the window open and pull out my finger. It looked awful! I have lots more pictures I'll post sometime soon. There was blood all under the nail and it hurt so bad I almost passed out. I was walking around trying to think of something to do and I felt so naseous and spacey. I had to lie down on my bed so I didn't pass out. Then somehow I made it downstairs to the couch without passing out and emailed an SOS to robreed and jenn to call me at home. robreed called me and I cried for awhile before I could get the story out. Then he talked to me until the horrible pain was gone. Later that night the finger itself was pretty swollen and throbbing. I called the ER to see if I needed to come in but they said I could wait until morning if I could stand the pain. I found a website about draining the blood so I tried this. First with a couple different parts of my Swiss Army knife and then a needle. That worked the best but the hole was very tiny. Blood came out but didn't help the swollen pulsating fleshy part of my finger. I got addicted to this though and stuck the needle in there a lot but I was chicken so that's why I didn't get the knife, paper clip or nail to work, though I tried. First thing this morning I went to the doctor. I didn't sleep well because of the throbbing. They took an x-ray to make sure it wasn't broken, especially since I put a hole in the nail. If it was broken there'd be a greater chance that I'd cause an infection. It wasn't broken and there wasn't anything to do about it. He just said it'd take several weeks to heal. I also had my vision checked since I've been seeing blurry in class and it wasn't perfect as it used to be. He said it wasn't bad, I didn't need glasses but if I wanted to get them to help see better in class I could. So now I'm looking into getting glasses but I've never had to do this before so I feel stupid and I don't want to spend lots of money. I called a place and they said $72 for the exam and prescription. Then I have to pay for glasses and I don't want to spend a fortune but I don't want some shitty cheap ugly ones either. This is my face we're talking about.

I'd rather have a terrorist standing next to me than a Frenchman. (~15 min. later) Oh, I forgot about that, that's another reason I don't like the French, they eat horses.

Dr. Dee Griffin, DVM

Think about it. Sometimes people are just destined, destined to do, what they do. And that's what it is. Now everybody dance.

Justin Timberlake, Hottie!

Even in medicine, though it is easy to know what honey, wine and hellebore, cautery and surgery are, to know how and to whom and when to apply them so as to effect a cure is no less an undertaking than to be a [veterinarian].

Aristotle, 384-322 BC

Going to Kansas for Vet School is like going to the Special Olympics to play chess.

RobReed, BoyGenius

Now you can either stand around here eatin' jambalaya or you can come upstairs and eat my ass!

This isn't an ad. Amazon.com has a lot of stuff and if you're buying retail chances are they have what you're looking for at a price comparable to or lower than what you'll pay somewhere else. I'll use this space to link to products at Amazon.com that I talk about in my posts or things that are significant to me for some reason. I hope you find all of this useful. By the way, if you purchase through my site I get a little kick back. Thanks!
