More F1 sites

With www.f1i.com still down, I've had to seek my Formula 1 news and data elsewhere.  SpeedTv (formerly Speedvision) used to do a good job of covering F1, but since their move from Connecticut to Carolina and their attempt to cash in on the NASCAR craze, their Formula 1 coverage has been weak (I especially miss Steve Matchett's essays and the conversations with their announcers after each race).  Lately I've been visiting www.formula1.com and www.fia.com, and I'll be sure to continue even after f1i comes back on line (if they do).

Reds over Cubs 2 games to 1

Woohoo! The Cincinnati Reds are over .500 for the second time this week (1-0 after Monday's game, 2-1 after last night's win over the Cubs).  I was struck watching the last two games on Chicago TV (FSN Wednesday, WGN last night) at how Cubs-centric the announcing was.  I'm certainly used to "homer" announcing (watching a lot of Indiana University basketball and all), but at the very least I expect information about the opposition.  There were innings in the Cubs-Reds games that I didn't even know who was pitching for the Reds (I couldn't quite read the name on the jersey), other times I could make out a last name but didn't catch the first.  And to find out who the Reds are playing tonight, since Chip Carey and whoever his partner was (they didn't belabor his identity either), I had to make my first visit to the web site that's advertised in big letters behind home plate at the Reds ballpark.
