Dave Winer. While I follow his weblog with great interest, I'm convinced that he is way off base on how weblogs will affect politics in this country. "Soon all races will be run on weblogs." "In five years every member of the US House will have a weblog." This seems unlikely. It is my understanding that few politicians today read e-mail. All public statements made by national office-holders are scrutinized by the press - and I don't see why the web would change this. I can certainly believe that, over time, the Internet will be utilized to greater and greater extent as a medium for political communication, but this will be a gradual process. Fifteen years, perhaps. Definitely not five.
