Same Social Security Number Used by 40,000 People
Your Social Security number is the most valuable piece of information that an identity theft criminal can get.
The most "stolen" SSN of all time is 078-05-1120. In 1938, if you bought a new wallet, one of the items you might find in it was a fictitious Social Security card - simply a sample to show-off the wallet's storage compartments.
Unfortunately, the SSN was that of a real person, the secretary of the wallet manufacturer's vice president. Eventually, as many as 40,000 people used that Social Security number!
