Blogs worth revisiting

Here are links to Al's Radio weblog posts on various people's sites worth a revisit as my time permits, and I also plan to add more here over time.  Otherwise too easy to forget where I placed some links.  I may also do a variant on this, organizing connections by topic.  This one is by name of the outfit that has come up in my posts.  The difficulty in managing a LONG STORY, when I keep having to scroll up to the top controls when editing stuff, tells me that I need to organize this stuff a bit different, perhaps using a separate story (or the shortcut technique) to manage my mini-essays on what it is that appeals to me about each of these sites.

  • www.AirDisaster.com has high quality discussion groups, I mention 2002-07-10 Wed.
  • Bag of Knowledge Klog
    • has many topics here (intersecting my interests) such as:
    • How to do various cool things using our Radio Userland software;
      • Category Navigation Implementation;
      • Links galore - many different kinds - Wow!;
      • Navigation Links and where he learned how (Jenny Levine);
    • How easy it is to get confused trying to figure out how to do things;
      • Upstreaming vs. working Off-Line;
        • It is embarrassing how long it was that I did not 'get it'
    • Knowledge Management Tips
    • Quality Software Development Standards;
    • Wish lists of improvements to Radio Userland documentation;
      • One thing I think might be cool is to use the technique of Pamela Joy's House ... go to http://www.pamelajoy.com/ then scroll down to the bottom of the 3rd column where there is a link to her house.  It shows the current season of the year, so be sure to bookmark this and revisit from time to time.  Click on any door or window.  Isn't that cool!.
      • You see the technology, now apply that to software documentation.
      • We would have an image of a screen that has many features on it.
      • Move cursor over part of that screen, and little bubbles pop up telling us the NAME of the type of link being used.
        • Calendar Links
        • Category Links
        • Cloud Links
        • Directory Links
        • Macro Links
        • Navigation Links
        • Perma Links
        • Referer Links
      • Right click, while mouse is over that, whatever, would call up a standard list of choices for accessing documentation on whatever kind of thing that is.
        • Standard Help defining this terminology
        • Connections to HOW TO if we want to implement it
  • Popular British Blogs directory - see 2002-07-10 Wednesday.
  • Julius Caesar's War Blog Diary introduced 2002-06-28 Friday.
  • The Cartoonist Weblog = worth visiting for random insights, and delicious mixture of pictures and text, similar structure to Cory Doctorow; Boing Boing Blog; and Radio Free Blogistan.
  • Column Two has big collection of Knowledge Management Ideas
  • Cory Doctorow Directory of Wonderful things - see 2002-07-16 Tuesday.
  • Freedom to Tinker
  • http://weblog.greenpeace.org/
  • Jan Karlsbjerg clarifies Deep Linking in Denmark - see 2002-07-10 Wednesday.
  • Link Services also has links to those outfits that show up the most often on Al's referers - see Understand Radio Referers for more information on this nuance.
  • [NOSI - Naval Open Source Intelligence] introduced 2002-08-18 Sunday
  • Mark Pilgrim's 30 days to a More Accessible Weblog series of posts, mentioned by Dave Winer and others.
  • John Robb's essay on the New Economy discussed 2002-05-28 Monday.
  • David Rothman Tele Read mentioned 2002-07-16 Tuesday.
    • Lots of hot topics here (intersecting my interests), such as:
    • al Qaeda allies in cyberspace;
    • Broken Links;
    • Copy Protection;
    • High Bandwidth ads impact on users below state of art spending;
    • Internet and Protecting Children;
    • Libraries and Budget Cuts;
    • Search Engine Huckstery;
    • Search Engines vs. Copyrighted Material;
    • Spam often promotes hard core Porn, so if legislators really want to make a serious dent fighting the spread of Porn, then fighting Spam is one way to get the job done;
    • Young Children can't read because schools handicap the process;
      • Reminds me of a recent news story where Publishers amazed at the success of the Harry Potter series.  Apparently they had not realized that children need to be motivated to read, but once motivated they are a very big market.
  • Search Day

The type of link I am primarily using here, to connect to my past posts, was explained 2002-07-16 Tuesday.  There's lots of different kinds of links that I hope to learn how to use.  The important thing for me to remember with this one is when right click on the anchor for a particular blog date, in Microsoft Exploder, select Copy Shortcut, NOT the Copy that I use when at some Internet url.
