Radio Wishes
Radio Wishes are where we see something and wish that in some future enhancement or plug in tool that this might work a little differently. Sometimes when I state a Radio Wish, someone sees what I wrote and tells me that improvement is available right now, and how to get at it.
I have many more Radio Wishes than I had previously spelled out with clarity any one organized place. Some of them are ideas for enhancing the user experience, general product stability, ease of navigation, new features etc. Here is a directory of links to those I have shared so far, and also some from other people that I echo as being good ones.
Two Thirds of the way through 2002 August, I started my e Radio Ideas Category intended as my input to the multi-author dws.Radio.FAQ project. If you are not familiar with that, I have links in my Radio Doc Sources and instructions how to get involved in it in my Understand Radio Categories. Anyhow, if you go to my e Radio Ideas then use the Calendar to go back into the archives of earlier posts, you will find 95% of my Radio Wishes. There are a handful that I have embedded as an aside to something written elsewhere.
Here are some of my Radio Wishes organized by sub topic, with links to where I detailed them, if not here.
- Archive Review
- Here's my dream or vision - over time we have posted various articles, home page items, categories, stories whatever, and perhaps some of them ought to get some clean up of some kind.
- I would have a tool on my PC ... please read through all of my past Radio Archives, one item post folder file whatever at a time, and DO something against each one ... it might be spell & grammar checking, it might be link validation, it might be checking the stuff against some style that I now want to use
- So long as the post passes inspection, move on to the next one.
- Up pop on my screen a post that has a problem, and clearly show what the problem is without messing with the post.
- If I choose to fix the problem, I want option of publishing the correction right then and there, without going through the usual Radio interfaces - just replace the object in the Radio directory and tell it to upstream it, or I could be doing this with the Radio Application not running, so as not to have any extra drain on my PC, then when all done I want to publish, not my whole site, only those items and stories and other objects that were last updated (according to their properties) since some date like today or yesterday.

- Events Log does show the stories I updated today, and like Referers, mine currently gets wiped every nite, so I could review it each nite if I am awake at the wipe out time.
- As with the referers, I would like to have an archived events log ... here is what happened for all of yesterday, that I could review at a decent hour the next day.
- I would also like to have some way of looking at the data in the events log in some other sequence like what are all the stories I updated?

- Sideways Friendliness Enhancement 2002 Aug 25

- I want people to be able to see them in alphabetical sequence, similar to me looking at the shortcuts page, and with a bit more information of a data base defining nature. See my comments on Seb's Open Research Oct 5, 2002
