Al Categories
I have tried to organize my weblog into the various kinds of subject matter that interest me. Here is a connection to a geeky chart from which you can link to any one of them (ignore the one with a file folder, which I keep around to remind me how NOT to set up a new Radio Category). If you are interested in setting up your own Radio Categories, check out my Understand Radio Categories essay.
- Home parent is where this Weblog started, and where stuff of general public interest goes.
- Some posts will be duplicated here and in a specialized interest.
- 400 on Radio Dial is for my interest in the IBM midrange world, where my computer career has been since the 1960's. The 400 refers to AS/400.
- There may be some overlap in posts here with my other interests such as Computer Security.
- Brain Exercise is for reviews of books and other good literature I have recently enjoyed.
- There may be some overlap in posts here with my interest in Science Fiction.
- Brain Food is for aids to learning nuances of this weblog software world, where typically the flood of new information coming to my attention, and the ability of my mind to absorb it do not march step by step in sync.
- There will be times I am putting lots of great ideas here and absorbing only some of it, and there will be other times that I have a respite and will be reviewing past posts to see what new stuff my brain can really absorb. So far I have had much more of the former than the latter.
- Brain to Brain is for guidance at doing a better job in this Weblog, and elsewhere, with:
- Writing skills;
- Communicating in general;
- Producing web sites that are great with
- Accessibility;
- Useability;
- and Credibility.
- This whole topic has to do with Integrity.
- Hopefully, over time, I will manage to heed all this great advice, and visitors looking at my site will see a steady improvement in the overall quality of my efforts.
- e Law focuses on how changes in legislative and judicial landscape is reshaping our world - both the real world and the Internet world. Many changes are due to how people are interpreting regulations.
- There may be some overlap in posts here with my other interests such as Security.
- e Radio Ideas are intended as my input to Don Strickland Radio FAQ, where many people post Questions about Radio, which Don subscribes to via Radio News Aggregation, then Don replicates them on his site, sometimes with answers if he has any, and a bunch of us subscribe to Don's consolidated posts the same way, and usually someone else has answers to other people challenges, so later editions replicate the questions with good alternative answers. This is a great model for multi-authoring. If any of this paragraph is not understandable to you, check out my Understand Radio News Aggregation essay.
- HisTech means History of Technology.
- There may be some overlap in posts here with my interest in Science Fiction.
- Laugh Track is for Humor. I often post things with a sardonic or tongue in cheeky attitude, but this is for where the entire item is intended to be more joke than taken seriously.
- My Family and Friends reflect personal stuff and personal interests aside from technology, computers, literature, politics, interesting reading, etc.
- Here you will find references to My Hovel Sweet Hovel (I am an untidy housekeeper), spiritual mushy stuff, discomfort about finances.
- I am male, straight, born Feb 8, 1944 in Aberdeen Scotland.
- I believe in a strong national defense, a strong economy, and strong safety nets for social justice and protection of human dignity. I believe that good ecology and good jobs can coexist. Balance and Moderation can work.
- Security for me implies both Computer Security and other kinds of Security such as Homeland Security, Family Security, and Constitutional Rights Security. When I made suggestions various places I strive for simple solutions that will get the job done without compromising privacy of innocent civilians.
- Al's introductions to basic Computer Security, check out posts on Aug 15; Aug 29; Oct 9.
- SF means Science Fiction, but much of what I post here is interesting material about topics that until recently were in Science Fiction but now are for real, or I am talking about developments that soon will cross that threshhold of imagination from fantasy to reality. Such as developments in Homeland Security.
