Hooray for XML!
Summer is fast approaching, and that means no classes and more time to work on some promising projects that I've had in mind. As usual, I've put more on my plate than I can reasonably handle, but that's all part of the fun. Some of these projects will probably evolve into products or services offered by Media Insites, and all of them involve XML integration in some form:

  • A an XML-based content management system written in ColdFusion. The first edition will probably be a personal blog system similar to what you see here, running on pure ColdFusion. Custom tags will allow you to write all the "macros" you could ever dream of.
  • "Insite," a web-based conference and whiteboarding system that uses the Jabber XML-based protocol. I already have a working version written using Flash and Yannick Connan's great JabberFlash API.
  • I've also considered using the same technology behind "Insite" to recreate the venerable game Acrophobia, which was unfortunately axed a few years back. This is rather ambitious, but has quite a bit of potential.
Only time can tell what actually comes to fruition.
