Been trying to tie all loose ends and catch up on work, phone calls, email and blogging. But it's no use. I'm still behind. If you've called, sent an email or otherwise haven't heard from me, I hope you'll understand that getting ready to depart the country for an extended time tends to weigh one down with laborious task detail. I hope to continue to catch up on email and blogging, so stay tuned.
I'm flying into Rome. After a few days head to Tuscany and the central Italy coast. Then onto Florence before making a slow trek back to Rome. It's my first trip to the boot shaped country famed for art, food, wine, organized religion and a history long on legend. Not to mention home to the original Renaissance "men".
I'll post some observations and hope to catch some interesting or inspirational momens on "disk". So tune in.

Many regular visitors to the Tavern have asked for more wine notes. And I've got to agree. It's not that I haven't been embibing in and falling prey to the sensual seduction of the fermented grape, I just haven't transcribed my notes and experience. No worries. I'll be sure to share my wine tasting experiences in Tuscany and elsewhere in Italy very soon.

Thought I'd share with you just some simple observations of mine that stuck in my mind over the last few days:
Screaming teenagers driving a BMW X5 SUV (new) through a Newport Beach shopping center parking lot while hanging half way out of the car waving signs and gleefully requesting "Vote For Arnold"
Sav-On Drug Store on one aisle has a number of Halloween costumes on display and for sale. The aisle right next to it they've already got Christmas lights, ornaments and other decorations displayed and for sale.
October is usually my favorite time of the year (as far as the weather is concerned) in Suthern California. Actually it's been rather gloomy and gray. Someone whould see if we can recall the weather, too.
How good Mexican beer is with Mexican food.

I've been using the new Apple Bluetooth (wireless) keyboard for a couple weeks now. Running system 10.2.6 on a 1Ghz 17" PowerBook, I can safely say this thing lags quite a bit. I type rather fast and when the keyboard tries to catch up to me it sometimes resorts to beach ball spinning waiting. Many times the buffer isn't large enought to continue to carry my keystrokes to the page. I've experienced this in Mail, BBedit and Word. I dont' know why. But it shouldn't be so sluggish. I wonder if Panther addresses this issue. Anyone else using they keyboard and experiencing anything similar? Any suggestions?
Wine. Wine Wine.

I finished producing a short (20 minute) montage of music, stills, and clips from both still camera's in movie mode and some MiniDV footage. They've been burned to DVD and I've got a web ready file but it's still 40MB. I've got to run it through Cleaner and then post it. But the reality is, it's going to have to wait till mid-November. In the meantime if you haven't seen the two still photo albums from my Dual-Sport adventure check them out. I've posted a bunch of photos from Wyoming, Utah and Idaho here. And from Southern Utahhere. (be sure to click 'start slide show' so you can see full size images)
