Well done DEFENSE! Alex Herrera (#74) with great continued pursuit, follows the play, waits for the cut-back -- then pounces on the Eagle for a sack and a loss on the play! This play starts and ends with Fred Hacker...and nobody knows the ending better than Eagle #34 -- WHAM! Game: 10/11/2003 2:30 PM Steelers - 7 Rams - 12 Ashbury-East Steelers' record at 6-1 with loss to the Rams. Final game on 18-Oct-2003 vs. Eagles! (more video clips tell the story...below; *note: earlier games' individual video clips have been consolidated into the "Game Highlights" movie format clips.) (Click on picture below for Video Clip) Game Highlights (movie format) The game started just like all the others -- Banner and all. The ending...well... that was unlike any this 2003 Steeler team had yet to experience. And from the looks after the game, no Steeler wants to repeat. Next week...watch out...the Steelers know who they are and they're out to "hit hard" and "kick butt".     (Click on picture below for Video Clip) Captains Tom Kelley (#64), Jacob Dosselman (#10), Dave Iacoponi (#39), Conner Kelly (#61) get ready for the coin toss -- Steelers receive! Joe Ippolito (#87) gets the ball and is swarmed by Rams. (Click on picture below for Video Clip) Ryan Hilt (#55) gets the 1st carry; some tough yards.         (Click on picture below for Video Clip) Dave Iacoponi (#39) with an early great run, great line blocking sets it up...only to have it called back because of a Steeler clipping penalty. Penalties --very atypical for this well disciplined squad-- would continue to plague the Steelers all game long.         (Click on picture below for Video Clip) Joe Ippolito (#87) sweeping right [very left edge of picture] as the line executes well, and Joe does the rest running for a big gain.   Referree marking off one of the penalties against the Steelers. This was not like the Steelers we know. Too much time off? Too many distractions? Who knows...mentally, physically, the normally dominating Steelers were not themselves on this warm October Saturday game. This is the team pursuit that's typical Steelers - 100%!   (Click on picture below for Video Clip) Joe Ippolito (#87) continues the 1st Half offensive drive to the goal line. Along getting some great blocking from teammates, Jacob Dosselman (#10) and Dave Iacoponi (#39) and others.   (Click on picture below for Video Clip) 1st Half offensive continues in this 2-part clip; Ryan Hilt (#55) pounds his way through the middle of the Rams defense for more yards; Dave Iacoponi (#39) skillfully weaves his way for 1st down -- big run!         (Click on picture below for Video Clip) On the defensive line, Gabe Bundy (#73) turns a shoulder and squeezes into the Rams backfield to wrap & tackle for a loss on the play.         (Click on picture below for Video Clip) Tim Bado (#27) hands off to Ryan Hilt (#55). Clean hand-off and great line lead blocking, combined with Ryan's power result in Steeler-like steamroller yard winning gain.               (Click on picture below for Video Clip) Uncharacteristic of the 2003 Steelers, a turnover and overpursuit on this Rams play that begins as a sweep but then Rams runner cuts back into the middle -- Steelers are off balance unable to recover -- Rams' #38 breaks it loose all the way for their 2nd touchdown, the lead and eventually the win.   Game over. Steelers' defensive unit leaves the field in defeat - knowing this is not the Steelers they are, they have been and they will again be next week.
