Steelers vs. 49ers
The Steelers faced the 49ers in their second Monday-night game under the lights at Knoch Park. In the first half, the offense drove down the field and scored on a fake reverse for 6 yards to Joey Ippolito (#87). The extra point was no good and the score stood at 6-0. The defense then took over and showed how hard they can hit. Alex Herrera (#74) caused a 49er fumble that was recovered by Fred Hacker (#53). The offense didn’t waste the opportunity and moved the ball once again. Another fake reverse to Joey Ippolito (#87) resulted in an 8-yard gain and another Steeler touchdown. The extra point was no good and the half-time score was 12-0 in favor of the Steelers.
In the second half, the Steeler defense came out strong again and caused two more fumbles. This time recovered by Joey Ippolito (#87) and Michael Ippolito (#25). Ryan Hilt (#55) deflected a pass and he and P.J. Serio (#86) got in there and rushed the 49er QB. The offense wasn’t left behind, controlling the ball and the clock and scoring their third TD with an 8-yard pass from Tim Bado (#27) to Dave Iacoponi (#39). This time the extra point was a successful fake reverse to Joe Ippolitio (#87).
When time ran out, the final score was Steelers 19, 49ers 0, moving the Steelers to an impressive 4-0 record.
