About PULSE Channels

In addition to the main PULSE page, there are now a number of PULSE "channels," each with a very specific focus. Each item added to the main PULSE page is also added to one or more channels, depending on the item's content and subject. For example, an item about a major SAMHSA report on substance abuse in the US may be added to the main PULSE page, the "Executive Edition," the "US News" channel and the "Substance Abuse" channel.

The Executive Edition includes links to selected studies, reports, articles, major news stories and clinical studies of interest to those in leadership positions in mental health systems and consumer advocacy organizations. The emphasis is on reports and studies and news stories on major issues. Several country-specific channels - US News, Canada NewsUK News and New Zealand News - make it possible to view only those items that pertain to a particular country, and focus on news stories.  Subject-specific channels, on the other hand, draw on all of the countries covered, and instead focus on particular subjects. At present, there are separate channels on Consumer Advocacy, Health Care Systems and health care system economics, Managed Care (including Medicaid), Substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, Clinical studiesCriminal Justice and Legislative News (which pertains primarily to US legislation). Additional channels may be added in the future.

Please note that the volume of content varies considerably from channel to channel, and that there are several ways these channels can be used:

  • From the main PULSE page, the the navigation links in the bar on the right provide access to the main page for each channel
  • A channel home page can be bookmarked or added to your browser's button bar, providing direct access to that channel
  • Each channel home page has an associated RSS/XML feed that can be used to incorporate syndicated PULSE content into other web resources

If you are interested in using syndicated PULSE content in your organization's web site, please contact Bill Davis.
