Unlike so many other recent movies, there is convincing chemistry between Levy and O'Hara (Mickey). So much so in fact that you will be cheering for an on-stage reconciliation. That moment epitomizes the quality of this film. The fact that A Mighty Wind is able to make you laugh heartily and simultaneously create real enough characters to care about is an accomplishment that should not be underestimated.
Christopher Guest's movies don't rely on traditional scripts. Though each scene is scripted as to what will occur the actors, amazingly, improvise the lines on the spot. This produces a synergy between the storyline and these talented actors, that other movies lack, and the result is a comedic masterpiece.
All the songs in the film were written for the movie and add to the authenticity of the experience and the humour.
Whether you were a fan of folk music or always wondered who bought those folk music albums, in the discount bin at the flea market, you'll treasure A Mighty Wind.
A Mighty Wind is, simply put, mighty good.
