) that are noteworthy for how unfunny they really are. Stuck On You, which is by the same people that brought us the outrageously funny and crude Something About Mary, is a kinder, gentler comedy that is not one of the Farrelly brother's best efforts.
I'm not sure if it's a subconscious politically correct reaction to find jokes about physically challenged persons unfunny or just bad writing that saps the humour out of Stuck On You. There were, however, only a few instances that the diverse audience I watched the film with actually laughed aloud.
Further contributing to Stuck On You's morbidity is its almost two hour length. There are few things more painful, from an entertainment perspective, than watching talented actors "bomb" for such an extended period of time. Oddly enough you actually begin to feel sorry for Damon and Kinnear in the process.
This empathy is what distinguishes Stuck on You from Intolerable Cruelty & Bad Santa. Bo (Damon) and Walt (Kinnear) are likable if unlikely characters. As the movie progresses the plight of their characters does begin to gradually grow on you. Once you start to laugh with, as opposed to at, the brothers the jokes work better too. You won't be falling on the floor laughing but you will chuckle every now and then.
Stuck On You is a laugh every 12 minutes.
Running time - 118 minutes.
