BEA's jrockit 7.0 was recently released. it really screams. one of our guys is getting over 1,500 messages/second running GLUE on jrockit, compared with less than 1,000 messages/second on the standard sun vm.

an interesting question: if CLR and the core .NET libraries become widely available on all major operating systems, what will be the effect on java?

there's been lots of talk about the future of java recently. i agree with those who think java should have been open sourced a long time ago. i'd much rather have survival of the fittest in the wild than a Sun-imposed standard.
