I found an interesting, if not somewhat disconcerting, article in the San Francisco Chronicle this morning about tax sites and web analytics titled "Now taxes really can bug you". In the piece, David Lazarus reports about the ubiquity of tag-based analytics (e.g., the web bug) on tax prep sites like Intuit's TurboTax or H&R Block. Both sites are using hosted analytics and JavaScript page tags for reporting, Intuit uses Omniture's SiteCatalyst, H&R Block uses WebTrends SmartSource...
