Microsoft's Service Pack 3 almost ready.
The Service Pack an almost 150MB download will be available soon.
"It's an important service pack, especially after such a long period of time; this hits the server as well as the desktop," said Gartner analyst Michael Silver. "Remember, there is no replacement on the server."
As the release of Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 approaches, Microsoft is rapidly working to release the first collection of bug fixes for Windows XP. That service pack is slated for late-summer release and will introduce many changes to Windows XP.

We all knew we where moving towards Windows XP. That Microsoft gives it's operating system Windows 2000 nine months to live is one thing I din't know.
Windows 2000 has been given nine months to live, as far as OEMs are concerned, and Microsoft is pressuring the PC companies to stop offering dual install Win2k/WinXP systems immediately. Microsoft operating systems magically become more expensive and difficult to obtain as soon as there's a new rev out, but so long as the previous version is still available on new PCs via OEMs, business customers have a relatively simple way to stick with their current OS, rather than having to do an expensive rollout of the replacement.

Licensing programs change after July 31. Understand your options now.
Before that change, many customers may find that a cost-effective way to obtain rights to future versions of Microsoft software is to purchase Upgrade Advantage or Software Assurance.

Why can't a PC do its job silently?
The practical reasons for this are obvious: several active coolers (such as those on the processor, graphics card, chip set and power supply) make for a higher noise level on par with that found at a construction site. At the same time, there's a large amount of heat generated in the PC case, which, in turn, is dissipated with the help of additional fans on the chassis.
Just follow this guide to have this problem fixed. There is also an 18Mb movie that explains it all. Download this movie.

Look at the groove 'tour bot tutorial' made available by Hugh Pyle.
Groove tour bot tutorial.
In the final part of the Groove Tourbot tutorial , Hugh Pyle explains why he used HTML for the User Interface of the tourtool
I've used this sort of "HTML inside Groove" view in quite a few tools now. It still takes a non-trivial amount of development effort (to build the template page, script helpers etc), but if you need a clean, flexible, not-very-interactive UI it's definitely the way to go.
Hugh also provides an index of the five parts of the Tourtutorial.
All very useful stuff, thnx Hugh, it's appreciated !!! [Jeroen Bekkers' Groove Weblog]

Final Victory,
After another phone call (count = >1000) with ADSLdesk (support desk for ADSL). Finally got through, a support member gave me a second line support number. Not really a phone number used for Clients of broadband connections, only a number that can be dialed by ISP's or Support desks of the same level. The 2nd line Supporter helped me and checked what wend wrong with my ever-lasting transfer for my connection from one house to another. Seemed that someone also placed an order for transfer on my account. Someone called Mr. Van Leeuwen, with a different address where a broadband connection isn’t possible at all. Everything sorted out now with the help of the 2nd line supporter. At last ADSL within my grasp again. Monday I will be reconnected to the Internet at home at last.
Ps: to dear Mr. Van Leeuwen, if you are reading this: Why me?
